Contraception Deserts: The Effects of Title X Rule Changes on Access to Reproductive Health Care Resources

Abstract Historically, access to contraception has been supported in a bipartisan way, best exemplified by consistent congressional funding of Title X—the only federal program specifically focused on providing affordable reproductive health care American residents. However, an era partisan polarization, X become political and symbolic pawn, part because its connection family planning organizations like Planned Parenthood. The conflicts around highlight the effects intertwining abortion politics policy, particularly as they relate justice gendered policy making. Family Parenthood have responded these battles bowing out network. To what extent deserts—places characterized inequitable X—developed or expanded response changes related health? What is demographic makeup spaces inequality? We leverage data from Office Population Affairs U.S. Census Bureau use integrated two-step floating catchment area method illustrate major change network 10 states. Our results reveal widespread human ramifications increasing constraints result quiet but insidious bureaucratic rule changes.
